Coffeen Barker-McWoodland is a female hybrid, half werewolf and half aurolupus lycan. She became extremely famous after stealing the crown of Hell from the Great Auction and wearing it, becoming the new Devil after the death of the previous one. She is the youngest daughter of Mark McWoodland and Sara Barker.
Coffeen appears in the comic series Lupus in Aula and in the literary series Danny Runner.
Appearance
Coffeen was born in human form, despite her ancestry, at a time when her father, a "hooded" werewolf (i.e. still unaware of being one) and her mother, who had not yet received the bite that would transform her, both had a humanoid appearance that did not reveal what their genetics were.
She has red, curly hair, and green and golden eyes. Her skin, which appears very pink, is soon enriched with sprinkles of reddish freckles on her shoulders, nose, knees and forearms.
As she grows, her body solidifies, not only thanks to genetics, but also to the inhuman training she forces herself to do, obsessed with the idea of becoming stronger than everyone else. She fights against the other pups of the Deadly Sands pack and as a result she is infected by one of them, through the bite, and transforms for the first time at twelve years old.
When she transforms, Coffeen has abundant curly fur on her back, pointed ears and relatively small for the size of her head, and upper canines so long that they protrude from her lips.
She has short, stocky legs, as well as a tail, thickly covered in fur like that of a werewolf, but short like that of an aurolupus.
The other lycans who attend the same school as her are often frightened by her appearance, sanguine, compact, made for battle, and at the same time awkwardly stocky due to the genetic combination that has expressed itself in her.
Even in human form, Coffeen is intimidating, not because he has naturally scary features, but because he goes out of her way to appear dangerous: she wears leather jackets, leather belts, high boots with reinforced toes, shirts with menacing designs of skulls and dragons, patches on her pants, pins, necklaces, and rings that represent skulls and bones. She always carries at least two knives.
Due to the speed with which her hair grows back after being cut, she can experiment with hairstyles and wears her hair in a variety of ways, but the most common are very short hair combed upwards, so as to form a small expanse of spiky spikes, or long hair shaved on the sides, usually with menacing designs cut into these short parts, while the longer hair at the back is gathered in a low ponytail.
Around the age of sixteen, she wears the Crown of Hell and her growth, from this moment, slows down drastically, but not before having undergone the so-called "infernal modification", the most visible symptom of which is the growth of a pair of horns from her forehead, which curve upwards.
Personality
Coffeen has shown since she was little a marked predilection for "tough" things, such as weapons (both bladed and firearms, although as she grows she loses interest in the latter), hand-to-hand combat and falconry.
She has an intense contempt for romanticism, so much so that Valentine's Day is the worst day of the year for her: she considers the maximum proof of human stupidity the fact that, to show each other their love, there are people willing to shell out so much money for teddy bears, chocolates, rings and heart-shaped pillows.
It is not difficult for her to make friends, but she prefers to stay on the sidelines and bond only with individuals who think like her. When fighting, she has no qualms about biting with all her strength, severing fingers, tearing off pieces of flesh, and generally immediately discouraging her opponent with the pain she is able to inflict.
The sight of blood, entrails, or suffering does not seem to cause her the slightest emotion (except maybe satisfaction).
She has her own particular, strong sense of honor and considers anyone who breaks their word as worthy of death.
Powers
Like her father, she has also inherited a strong propensity for magic, which she has put to the test in the study of high-level necromancy.
Coffeen can easily bring the dead back as "zombies" (animated corpses) and use them to attack or perform tasks for her, she also has a particular influence on vampires, who therefore avoid her.
Unfortunately, she did not inherit her mother's total refractoriness to magic, even if she seems to have a natural resistance to magical attacks.
After wearing the Crown of Hell, her powers expanded further, giving her the ability to dominate fire, which she uses abundantly and cruelly.
Trivia
- Her father gave her a crow named Ezio. She tried to rename it as Kroff the Dark, but unfortunately the animal responded only and exclusively to the name Ezio, which is why she could only call it "Ezio the Dark".
- She loves black cats, which she considers her only "weakness".
