ICDL illustrazioni - Penna a sfera 5

Illustrazioni fatte con la penna a sfera? Ne avete abbastanza? Noi no. (E in realtà sappiamo che anche voi ne volete ancora).

Godetevele:

1. Oh boy, avevamo ancora le idee un po' confuse su quale fosse il design di Mark McWoodland, ma una cosa la sapevamo: doveva essere fico. E oscuro. E infatti il titolo di questo disegno del 2010 era proprio "Dark Hero". Catene e falci e fuoco e lupi! Oggi Mark McWoodland è distintamente più tranquillo, non se ne va in giro coperto di catene e cerca di evitare, se può, di camminare in un incendio, ma rimane comunque un gran fico.

 

2. Un'altra caratteristica tipica del nostro caro McWoodland, da bravo eroe oscuro, è che finiva sempre tutto smaciullato, ferito e quasi morto... quanta angst nelle nostre penne e nelle nostre tastiere di tredicenni (ma eravamo tredicenni davvero? Chi se lo ricorda...). Un'altra illustrazione fatta con la penna a sfera, sempre dal 2010, con il nostro eroe licantropo che riflette sulla sua condizione (e su altre cose filosofeggianti e profondissime) mentre guarda il cielo e... si... dissangua forse?

3. Nelle nostre fasi preliminari di worldbuilding, quando eravamo ancora degli innocenti (???) ragazzini appassionati di fantasy, avevamo già in mente un'estetica ben precisa. E in questa estetica, per qualche motivo, c'erano zucche e licantropi. Ah, la magia di Halloween!

E anche se questa illustrazione è stata fatta per un contest, può riassumere abbastanza bene una parte dei nostri "piani" di scrittura. L'avete visto quel pipistrello strano e striminzito? Bellissimo. Comunque questo personaggio qui è il prototipo di Nero, un personaggio che compare nell'altrettanto vecchia storia di Scontramondi.

 

4. Nel 2010 avevamo anche già iniziato a lavorare sull'aspetto di una delle nostre iconiche "specie" di licantropi: gli aurolupus. Già allora avevano iniziato ad avere questo aspetto rettangolare, con musi pesanti, orecchie piccole, pelo ispido, ma erano ancora piuttosto "sottili" se paragonati ai carrarmati che gli aurolupus sono oggi.

Insomma, questa è una specie di proto-Furiadoro, solo che è un maschio e, a giudicare da come porta la coda, non è particolarmente felice, anzi, forse è un po' impaurito.

 

5. Oh my, perché nel 2011 avevamo la fissa di Furiadoro in giacca e cravatta? A lei non piace mettersi giacca e cravatta, vorrebbe andare in giro nuda (o al massimo con una tuta sportiva). Ma vabbé, ci sembrava che stesse bene e allora... eccola qui, con tutte le sue possibili forme (almeno quella ferale non ha una cravatta!). A parte l'evoluzione del design di Furia, non possiamo fare a meno di notare quanto lo stile delle illustrazioni a quel tempo fosse influenzato da certi manga.

“Cani magici! Trovarli, identificarli, accudirli” è il titolo di uno pseudobiblion (esistente solo nel mondo del Cammino delle Leggende), scritto da Mark McWoodland e Thomas Wolf.

Si tratta di una guida all’identificazione e all’allevamento delle creature magiche caniformi del mondo, frutto di un lungo viaggio che gli autori hanno intrapreso insieme per ricercare e catalogare queste creature.

Il Fiore e l'Artiglio - Nuova edizione! (Becchini, mafia e un pizzico di western)

A pochi giorni di distanza dall'ultimo libro pubblicato, il nostro Furiacieca a fumetti, siamo lietissimi di annunciare che è finalmente disponibile per l'acquisto un altro volume!

Questa volta è un romanzo, anche se l'illustrazione di copertina è come sempre creata dalle nostre artiste ufficiali, Furiarossa e Mimma. 

 

"Mark McWoodland è un giovane contadino che per sbarcare il lunario aiuta l'impresario di pompe funebri locale, Paul Grimm. Mite, tranquillo e con un animo sensibile, il ragazzo riesce spesso a non farsi infastidire grazie alla sua altezza impressionante e al suo aspetto minaccioso.
Sara Barker è estroversa, aggressiva, invischiata fino al collo in circoli criminali e ha amici che nessuna madre vorrebbe che sua figlia frequentasse. Spesso sottovalutata a causa del suo aspetto, sa che nel suo mondo deve farsi valere con le azioni.
Insomma, Mark e Sara non potrebbero essere più diversi. Cosa succederebbe se li si costringesse a frequentarsi a causa dell'amicizia storica delle loro famiglie?
Fra fughe rocambolesche, rospi velenosi, cani irrequieti e poliziotti nostalgici, immergetevi con noi in questa avventure che profuma di amore, amicizia e... cadaveri?"

Inizialmente avevamo scritto questo libro per un concorso sui libri d'amore, tagliando completamente la parte paranormale/sovrannaturale. Poi, però, non abbiamo vinto. E come avremmo potuto? Mark McWoodland e Sara Barker (e qualcuno di voi li conosce bene) sono personaggi profondamente legati al mondo sovrannaturale, due dei grandi protagonisti della saga del Cammino delle Leggende, e scrivere della loro gioventù escludendo del tutto ciò che l'ha resa così speciale ha, come si suol dire, strappato via l'anima della storia.

Perciò abbiamo deciso di estenderla e cambiarla per includere anche le parti fantasy!

E questo libro è il risultato. Speriamo davvero che ve lo godiate! Fra l'altro, manco l'avessimo fatta apposta, il libro esce proprio nel giorno di San Valentino... figata, eh?

He's a lupus hominarium var. rubrum, a red monoform (it means no natural shapeshifter) major werewolf, but also a very powerful dark mage, so he can achieve shapeshifting through magic. He can assume different forms (like the human or the wolf ones), but only if they're almost identical at him in size (for example he can become a VERY big wolf) and can not change his color (in every form his hair and skin will be the same).

When he assumes a human form he's almost as tall as he is in his natural body and his weight doesn't change. He always wears a beard, dark clothes (with some green, of course, dark green), and he has an intimidating look... )
Anyway, staying in this shape for him is energy consuming and if he passes out while in human form, the temporary magic sigil that keeps him this way will continue to drain him of energy and, eventually, will kill him if he doesn't wake up in time for transforming back in his natural form.
Other forms that he can easily assume, but that he almost never does, are: dog, wolf, bear and other human beings that are similar to him in size.
While in other forms, different from his natural one, he limps slightly from his left leg, but this particular is almost unnoticeable if he's not tired. The more he stresses the left leg, the more the limping becomes evident.

Despite looking so menacing, he's a quiet and gentle creature, that likes to help people and to care for animals. He knows way too well that looking intimidating for people will prevent them from being too noisy or disrespectful when they are close to him!
He can, on the other hand, be totally merciless with those who attack with no reason weak creatures (yes, this includes plants) or that simply dare to harm his friends, but with the rest of the world his philosophy is "live and let live".

He is a dragoneer, linked with Shadow (the son of the Ermes Siegader To'Rvak), a dark dragon.

Notes of style: The fur color depends a lot on the age that is portrayed and even on the season. Young Mark had a very bright ginger fur, while the older he becomes, the more grey/silver the fur goes. Also, in summer the coat is shorter and brighter, while in winter is longer, fluffier and more silver.
Mark likes hats, bandanas and even hoods, so he wears them often!
He has a scar under his left eye, due to a lash that he took in the face when he was young.
